DRIVE Hoops was started in the fall of 2007 by Angelo Thomas with the idea of player development and mentoring kids.  With such a positive response the first year, the DRIVE concept expanded out into leagues, clinics, AAU, and tournaments.

Angelo has been in the game for over 25 years.  His playing experience included being an honorable mention HS All-American while at Greenfield HS in MA, a D1 scholarship player at the U. Maine, and a pro prospect.

After his playing days, Angelo wanted to stay close to the game so he decided to get into coaching.  His first coaching experience was  as an assistant during the 1999-2000 season at the University of New Haven.  From 2000-2005 he was an assistant coach at Kolbe Cathedral HS in Bridgeport, CT.  While there Kolbe went to 3 state championship  games winning it in 2004.  He moved back to Greenfield MA in the winter of 2005 where he coached in the Greenfield school system from 2006-2013.  In 2013 he got the head job at Hopkins Academy in Hadley, MA where his team won the sectional title in 2015 & 2016.

Angelo resides in Greenfield with his wife, Tiffany, and their two children, Grayson and Savannah.
